SCRIP Coordinator Needed

-

The St. Therese SCRIP Program is looking for a new Coordinator to help run the SCRIP program effective immediately

Position 1: Order and Inventory Coordinator:

Responsibilities include inventory management, ordering all SCRIP, soliciting new SCRIP vendors, maintaining and balancing the SCRIP checking account, writing checks, arranging for SCRIP pickup with SCRIP runners, managing SCRIP sellers and runners and recruiting as necessary. The position also handles marketing of the SCRIP program. The coordinator works alongside the SCRIP coordinator/bookkeeper and the job responsibilities are very intertwined with the other team member. Candidates must be able to work in the school every Monday, including summers, as well as every Friday afternoon and extra hours when necessary. (Times may vary according to schedule conflicts and vacations.)

Candidates must be willing to work more hours during the holiday season. Candidates must be regular SCRIP buyers, enjoy working with people, have excellent communication skills, be very detail-oriented, have basic computer knowledge, have good organizational skills and be able to perform all of the SCRIP duties as listed above, as well as other projects and tasks that may be asked of by the principal or pastor. The job entails frequent communication with customers, teachers, principal, priest and the St. Therese SCRIP auditors. ST. THERESE UNITED FOR LIFE

40 Days for Life is Sept. 27 through Nov. 5 The mission of the 40 Days for Life campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity by Prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion. We invite all of you to come and pray at the Planned Parenthood location at 3942 W. Jefferson Blvd. on Sat. Oct. 30 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Please come to the 40 Days for Life table in the gathering area and sign up for 1 hour of prayer time

MIRIAM’S BLESSING

Do you know anyone who is dealing with a difficult prenatal diagnosis? It may be the detection of a chronic  condition like Down syndrome, Spina bifida or Cystic fibrosis, or a lifethreatening disorder like anencephaly, Trisomy 13 or Trisomy 18. Miriam’s Blessing is a new ministry of our  diocese which is designed to offer comprehensive and compassionate support to parents before, during and after birth, so that they do not have to face the unique challenges posed by a difficult prenatal diagnosis alone. Closing Mass of the Centennial Year of Our Lady of Fatima

The Bishop will celebrate this Mass on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St Matthew Cathedral, South Bend. He invites all the faithful of the Diocese to this Mass. A special papal blessing will be given at the Mass after which there will be Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, praying of the holy Rosary, and a Marian Procession, followed by a social in the School Gymnasium.

Fatima Events at St. Therese

Friday, Oct. 13 will be the end of our 100th anniversary of Fatima celebration. We will be praying the rosary in the chapel at 6pm. Come and join us to pray for peace in our troubled world and to thank Mary for all she has done for us.

ROSARY RALLY

Saturday, Oct. 14 we will be having our third Rosary Rally at the grotto at 12 noon. Please join us. It can’t be stressed enough how important  praying the rosary is. Listen to the news if you are in doubt. Our Lady will help if we only ask her. Hope to see you. God bless

Symbolon unveils the beauty and  brilliance of Catholicism for the entire parish featuring leading Catholic teachers and scholars explaining the Catholic faith in heartfelt, meaningful ways. Each Session is independent. You don’t have to have seen a  previous Session to understand the next one.

Session 3, WALK THROUGH THE MASS:  Exploring the Sacred Liturgy This Session will cover: -How the Mass we celebrate today links back to apostolic times -The four main sections of the Mass -How we encounter God in the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist -What we can do to “get more” out of every Mass. -Why we must attend Mass on  Sundays and holy days of obligation

 Other Symbolon Session topics will cover: -Virtue and Grace;  -True Love and Marriage;  -Social Justice and other essentials of what it is to be a thriving Catholic Attendance helps fulfill the annual  obligation for Ministers of the  Eucharist and Word to be present for training or a retreat.

Bishop Kevin Rhoades to celebrate Masses for married couples celebrating their 25th, 50th or 60th Wedding  Jubilees

Bishop Rhoades will be celebrating an Anniversary Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne on October 15, 2017 at 11:30 AM. He will be celebrating an  Anniversary Mass at the Cathedral of St. Matthew in South Bend on  October 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Ticketed receptions will follow both Masses. The Fort Wayne reception will be held at St. Mary’s Parish - only a couple of blocks from the Cathedral. In South Bend it will be held at the  St. Matthew School Gym. Anniversary couples will receive two free tickets to the reception. Additional tickets for family members may be purchased before the registration deadline for $10 each. WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER WEEKEND

WWME of Northern Indiana is hosting another weekend in Fort Wayne, IN November 10-12, 2017. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Cathedral Museum (located in the Archbishop Noll Catholic Center in downtown Fort Wayne) is in need of Volunteers to staff the Museum during regular business hours, starting in January, 2018. The Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am until 2pm. Duties include being  present during regular hours one day per month for the four hours. St Mary Soup Kitchen Ministries Fundraiser

You are invited to help support St. Mary Soup Kitchen Ministries which serve the needy in Fort Wayne's inner city. A fundraiser will be held on  October 28 at St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church. Children's Liturgy - Ages 3-8 -  Parents and Guardians:.

Children's Liturgy of the Word takes place during the 11am Mass. Children ages 3-8 are invited to participate. We will read aloud a kid-friendly version of the Gospel for the week, along with prayers and other activities. Children will return to the sanctuary in time to put their  offering in Father's collection basket

SPARC (Small Parishes Actively Receiving Christ)

SPARC is a Men’s Apostolate seeking to become closer to God through Prayer, Scripture and Catechesis. Every man over the age of 18 is  welcome to meet in the parish office on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday’s of each month at 7 p.m. The next meeting is November 9th. Rosary for Peace in the World and in Families

A few years back our Lady asked for prayer groups be formed. Here at St. Therese our group was formed and we are in our ninth year. We pray for peace in the world and in all families. Won't you please join u​s? We meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month in the chapel at 6:00 pm. Hope to see you there.

Divine Mercy Devotion

Now through the end of the Year of Mercy, St Therese Church will be having a Divine Mercy devotion. It will be held in the Chapel on the first and third Tuesdays of every month following evening Mass (6:15pm) Spend time to learn more about the mercy of God, learn to trust in Jesus, and live your life as merciful to others as Christ is merciful to you.​

MedCon 2017

On October 14, 2017, the Dr. Jerome LeJeune Medical Guild of Northeast Indiana will host its second annual Catholic Medical Conference,  MedCon 2017: Time for Change,  focusing on Conversion in Healthcare. The conference runs from 9a.m. to 4p.m. at the Mirro Center at  Parkview Regional Medical Center and will feature two presentations by Marcus Grodi of EWTN’s The  Journey Home and presentations by our Guild Chaplain,  Fr. Royce Gregerson, on the New Evangelization in Medicine,  Congressman Marlin Stutzman on converting legislators regarding  Culture of Life issues, and multiple others. The day will conclude with the 5:00 p.m. White Mass at the  Cathedral celebrated by  Bishop Rhoades.

This conference, including lunch, is FREE for priests, deacons, and  religious of the diocese. Please  register by September 25th so that we can tell the Mirro Center how many meals to prepare.

Bishop Luers to host Men’s Knight ‘Smoker’

The 2017 Bishop Luers Men’s Knight “Smoker” is Saturday, Oct. 21, 7 p.m. to midnight, under the tent at Bishop Luers High School. Mass is at 5:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Saint  Francis of Assisi. Tickets are available pre-sale at all home football games or the door on Oct. 21 or by contacting the BLHS Athletic Office. Must be 21 or older to attend. This party celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the BLHS Triple Crown State Championships in football, basketball and baseball. The longtime annual fundraiser is a great night of food, drinks,  fellowship and football. There will be raffle prizes -- outdoor theater projector and screen – and feature the USC vs. Notre Dame game on the giant screen. Funds go to BLHS athletics.
